Coordinated Specialty Care: Root Canals
Root canals sometimes have an unfair reputation, and they are often the key to getting patients out of pain and saving a natural tooth that would otherwise need to be removed. We evaluate teeth that may need root canal treatment carefully with long term outcomes in mind, and we'll be honest with you about your options so you can make the decision that's right for you. There is truly nothing better than your own teeth, and we prioritize saving your natural teeth whenever possible. Root canal therapy, when properly done, is an important and effective way we are able to achieve exactly that.
We will make sure you have a clear understanding of what's involved, what to expect, and how the endodontic treatment fits into your overall dental care plan. If a tooth is not savable, or you choose not to save the tooth with root canal therapy, we will always walk you through the best next steps.
We are experts in diagnosis of conditions that cause tooth pain or nerve death, and we work closely with highly qualified local endodontists with whom we have a trusted working relationships. If you are ever in need of root canal treatment, we want you to be in the hands of an exceptional endodontist, a root canal specialist who has years of additional training and extensive experience in these very specific and technically complex procedures. Because their practices are focused specifically on root canal treatments, endodontic practices also have specialized equipment (like high-powered microscopes for seeing deep into the nerve canals), specialized materials, and specifically trained team members to help assure you achieve the most predictable and successful outcome possible.
You'll never be sent to a specialist without knowing why and without our team remaining closely involved in your care. After root canal therapy is complete, you will typically return to our office for restorative care. The treated tooth will need a final protective restoration to restore it to full function and stabilize it for the long term. Sometimes this is a simple filling; often, especially in the case of back teeth, the tooth needs to be fully protected with a crown. Our team will restore your tooth with the same precision and attention to aesthetics that we bring to all our restorative work.
